Let's Talk Vacay

It might be best to get away.

Take a vacation.

Remember a few years back when staycations were all the rage due to lack of income during the pandemic? Well...studies are beginning to show that it may not be the best choice for everyone. If it's all you can afford and you are able to enjoy the simpler pleasures, this may work for you.

However, be aware that you may have to clean up after yourself/family, you may end up not doing much (and therefore not experiencing anything new), and most importantly - it will be hard to disconnect and actually ESCAPE.

If you are able/willing, try to go somewhere you've never been before. Maybe you've been meaning to visit that friend you haven't seen since pre-pandemic who now lives in a different state. Make some plans. Buy some plane tickets...and go.

A word on vacays - know that a vacation might help temporarily with fatigue, but it may not solve it. I'll have a post later on about sleep hygiene, but whenever I think about vacations, I think about the quote from the Adjustment Bureau. Richardson (the boss) states, "You look exhausted. You should take a vacation when all this is finished. Harry Mitchell responds by saying, "I'm not sure the kind of tired I am can be fixed by a vacation."

"I'm not sure the kind of tired I am can be fixed by a vacation.”

If you have sleep or fatigue problems (honestly - who doesn't these days?), then a vacation may not be the magic fix. Think of vacations as a time to do something new, explore, or visit a beloved place. It may not be a time that is as relaxing as you expect.

And as always...sunscreen and toe beans...
