Why this blog will always have this tag line
Welcome to my blog. I am totally new to this, so please be patient with me as I learn. I want to begin by explaining the sign-off line that will be used in every post. That will be "As always...sunscreen and toe beans." The meaning behind this is that while the rest of my explorations into various topics in this blog might be from a beginner status or an expert status, they will always be ever-changing. As we learn more about health (especially mental health), well-being, and self-care, the vast scene that encompasses all of these topics is itself ever-changing. We learn more about ourselves and our own species every day. I can only function from a place of what we know now. That being said, there are two recommendations for health and well-being that I do not believe will ever change, and that I've known since I was a young girl. In the words of Baz Luhrmann, "If I could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be it. The long term benefits of sunscreen have been proven by scientists, whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience." I couldn't agree more. From a young age, and being of "ginger" complexion (and thus from a long line of a skin cancer-laden family), I was the kid whose parents chased them across the soccer field slathering their face with sunscreen.
However silly that was of my parents...they were right. Sunscreen is indeed a sure fire way to stay healthy and not get skin cancer.
As always...sunscreen and toe beans...
When it comes to toe beans...I've known from a very young age that pets can be incredibly healing - both preventatively and in the moment. I have always been a bit more of a cat person, but that's because they require slightly less energy most days. That being said, I absolutely love dogs too. I won't get into the specifics yet of WHY pets are so good for you (that'll be a future post), but suffice it to say that they have always proven me right in my constant insistence that they help us every day.
That's all for the first blog post...please feel free to comment and let me know what you think so far.
And as always...sunscreen and toe beans...
